Into the computer room tonight to browse through healthy eating websites. Making a powerpoint or word document stating what they have learnt so far whilst being a member of the Cook It Club.

Next week we have a very special treat, due to all the hard work and enthusiasm by all the students, we are going to Chamberlains Restaurant in Redcar. Mark Chamberlain has kinldly offered to help the students with their healthy eating by preparing several tasty dishes for them to taste and enjoy, questions will be asked by the stduents to Mark about his career as a Chef. The students are all really excited and can not wait to meet a real Chef. Take a look next week at the photos taken.

Smoothies were the delightful experience for us to make and taste this week, We remembered to take pictures this week so have a look at the wonderful colours of the different smoothies:-
What wonderful colours and tastes!
Lots of fresh fruit and tasty fruit juice were used to make nice refreshing drinks with lots of crushed ice, some made theirs with yoghurt to give a different creamy taste. Here are some recipes to try at home and also some pictures of this wonderful experience:
Slurpy Pineapple
Excellent - Pineapple is a very exotic fruit!
The pineapple was first called "anana" a Caribbean word which means "excellent fruit"
Health facts:- Very high in Vitamin C
How to make it
Take half a fresh pineapple (or 1 small one), or 1 large tin of pineapple in juice. Add 1 ripe banana and some ice. Mix all together and blend.
Raspberry
You know it was the ancient people of Troy that were the first to appreciate the fruitiness of the raspberry.
Health facts:- High in fibre and vitamin C
How to make it
Take three large handfuls of fresh raspberries, or packet of frozen raspberries. Add 1/4 pint of cranberry juice and two bananas, peeled and chopped. Blast together in a blender and serve immediately.

Everyone enjoyed making their own smoothies and tasting other peoples. Making smoothies at home can also be fun by using any fruit available and mixing with some juice and some ice, you can experiment by using ice cream or milk to make a more filling drink. The ones we made were tasty and refreshing for all who shared this exciting experience!
